Old Photo Story

Joseph "Joey" Earl Doyle had always been an interesting character. He was born June 23, 1922 in Lewiston, Idaho. He was always a very mischievous kid. He loved to run around the town with his friends, and climb trees. He often got into fights with the other boys, but the combatants would always become friends again right after their scuffles. He always feared that he would never grow any taller. His parents would tell him to eat vegetables or he wouldn't grow, but he still didn't eat them. Aside from that, he never really had any fears. He hadn't experienced enough to realize what he should and should not be afraid of. His main goal was to finally reach the cookie jar when his mother would set it on top of the refrigerator. Joey also always wanted to be a famous war hero. He and his friends would play war using sticks as guns and rocks as grenades. One day, when Joey and his companions were in the forest playing war, he was holed up behind a wall of dirt with his partners in crime. One of his other friends realized he couldn't metaphorically shoot him with his stick-gun, so he threw a "grenade" at them to make them leave their cover. He threw the rock further than he had intended, and he hit a beehive with it. The insects began buzzing, and a flurry of them attacked the boys. No one, not even Joey knew that he was allergic to bees. He began being stung as he was running away, and he got weaker and weaker. He began having tunnel vision, and soon passed out. He was in the back of his pack of friends, and none of them saw him go down. Authorities investigated later and found his body at the scene. Joey never got to be famous, and he never got the cookies from above the fridge.
